It’s a strange old world we live in. On the one hand, you can have a heart that yearns for God. But on the other, you can be surrounded with so much evil and injustice that it really makes you wonder.

It’s a good thing to have a heart that yearns after God, that longs to be with Him, that wakes each day with a desire after God Himself.

But have you ever been up praying in the morning, filled with delight in the Lord, and yet the moment you step out the front door, some evil, some injustice slaps you in the face and robs you of all that joy? Yep, me too. But we’re not the first to experience that, and we certainly won’t be the last.

Isaiah 26:9 At night my soul longs to be with you, and the spirit in me wants to be with you at the dawn of every new day. When your way of justice comes to the world, people will learn the right way of living.

That was written by Isaiah over two and a half thousand years ago. Israel had gone astray – they were worshipping false gods, injustice was rife. And yet here was this prophet, Isaiah, yearning for God in the midst of it all. Good on him. And the deep insight of his soul was that one day, when God’s justice came to his world, people would learn how to live right, with equity and decency.

The same’s true today. Yes, injustice and evil are running rampant … no doubt about that. But in the midst of it all, continue to yearn for God. Long to be with Him. Enjoy Him – here, now, today. Because one day, just at the right time, His justice will come.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
