1 John 2:3-6 If we obey what God has told us to do, then we are sure that we know him. If we say we know God but do not obey his commands, we are lying. The truth is not in us. But when we obey God’s teaching, his love is truly working in us. This is how we know that we are living in him. If we say we live in God, we must live the way Jesus lived.

You can’t live your best life if you’re still bitter over something from your past; if you’re envious of someone; if you have unforgiveness lurking deep within … or any number of a myriad of things.
We know that, yet still we find ourselves in a rut – wanting to shake them but somehow unable to. Sound familiar?
God loves us beyond words, just as a good parent will love their child. So His wisdom in overcoming our faults is absolutely perfect, yet people of all stripes still rail against the notion of obeying God.

Whenever I speak about obedience, people call me legalistic, a Pharisee, all sorts of things. Fine, shoot the messenger.
But if you say you know God yet don’t obey His commands, you’re lying. It’s only when you obey Him, that His love is truly at work in you.
That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
