2 Peter 3:12,13 You should be looking forward to the day of God, wanting more than anything else for it to come soon. When it comes, the sky will be destroyed with fire, and everything in the sky will melt with heat. But God made a promise to us. And we are waiting for what he promised—a new sky and a new earth. That will be the place where goodness lives.

Can I ask you … are you looking forward to the end of your time on this earth? Most of us aren’t, and to some extent that’s how it should be. But if you believe in Jesus, then … man, it really is something to look forward to.

It sounds a tad morbid, doesn’t it? And speaking as someone who came “this close” to taking my own life, if you should ever find yourself at that point, don’t do it. Back then, I had no hope. I couldn’t imagine living another day, let alone another twenty-seven years. But God was in that place, and He gave me a future that I could never in my wildest dreams have imagined.

He has an amazing life planned for you too. Make no mistake. In Christ there is always hope. But it’s a hope that extends well beyond that time when He, in His wisdom, by His will alone, calls us home.

Eternity puts it all in perspective. Our time here on earth is less than a drop in the ocean compared to eternity in God’s Presence for those who trust in Jesus.

Absolutely, we should live the abundant life that Jesus came to give us. But we should also be looking forward to the day of God, wanting more than anything else for it to come soon.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
