Change is constant. Nothing ever seems to stay the same because God is inevitably always up to something new. And yet change – even change for the better – can be disconcerting, even stressful. So, how well do you handle change?

They say that it can be hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Some years ago, I owned a cat called Doggy. (Weird, I know, but pretty cool too, don’t you think?) Anyhow, we moved house so we built her a small shelter under the barbeque in the backyard and put one of those little cat doors on it. So all she had to do was push on it to get in and out. Now she loved this new shelter. It was warm and dry, but learning to use the cat door … well, that was a bit of a struggle.

I wonder sometimes whether we’re not a bit like that too. God comes along and changes things up. He does something new, something good, but something we don’t expect, so it drags us out of our comfort zones.

And we just sit there and look at it like the cat and wonder, “Now how’s that going to work?” I’ve certainly been there and I’m pretty sure you have too.

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “This is something that people cannot do. But God can do anything.”

Now, Jesus said that in somewhat of a different context but it’s a spiritual principal that holds true pretty much across the board.

When God’s doing something new in our lives, all we need do is push into it (rather than hold back). And what you end up discovering is that God is more than capable of doing the bits we can’t do.

In fact … God can do anything!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
