I have to be honest with you … waiting isn’t one of my strong suits. It just ain’t! I’m more of your “let’s get it done NOW” kind of guy. And yet, it turns out that being able to wait, learning how to wait, is extremely important to God.

You know the deal, don’t you? You need something, you want something … and you want it now! But we live in a world where we can’t have everything now. We live in a world where good things are delayed, postponed, cancelled. That’s just how life is.

And so our reaction … let’s be honest … is to become impatient. Impatience leads to a grumbling. Grumbling feeds our bad attitude. Our bad attitude clouds our judgement. We make rash decisions. We do stupid things. We damage relationships.

Does any of that sound at all familiar to you? I suspect so, because it’s a road we’ve all been down. So … what’s the alternative?

The alternative is knowing that there is great value in God’s eyes in waiting patiently.

Lamentations 3:25,26 The Lord is good to those who wait for him. He is good to those who look for him. It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to save them.

So for God, it’s not just that we wait. I mean, if the bus you’re wanting to catch is running late, you have no choice. You have to wait.

It’s about how we wait. Do you wait with a bad attitude or do you wait for God? Are you looking out expectantly for Him to show up or are you putting your trust in worldly things? Are you waiting quietly for the Lord to save you … or are you running around behaving badly? Well? When you have to wait, how do you wait?

It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to save you.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
